Hope With Heart Prints

This month, both of these prints will be on sale for $40 each, with all proceeds going to Hope With Heart, a camp for kids with heart conditions.  I'm doing this in memory of Nick Gretina, my best friend, who passed away due to his complications with his heart on July 25, 2005.

Nick called himself my "Biggest Fan," and always pushed me to do my work, even when I was about to throw in the towel more than a few times.  Between him and my wife, Lauren, I had the all the motivation I needed to do what I do.  Even though he is gone, his spirit still pushes me forward, and I feel like he's influenced a great deal of my artwork for the last six years...

Back in 2000, Nick got me involved in Hope With Heart.  I learned during that first summer the impact that camp had on Nick when he was a camper there, and how good it felt to be a counselor, giving guidance to the next generation of kids who had to carry the burden of a "special heart."  As weak as their physical hearts were, these kids taught me how strong a spirit can be.  I got addicted to the camp, and all its inner workings, and I came back year after year to be a counselor to the next group.  These days, I'm not a counselor anymore, but I do what I can to help from time to time, passing on word about the camp, and trying to raise funds.

So this is for Nick, and all the campers and counselors at Hope With Heart, the place where I spent my last week in August for 7 years, being a counselor to the greatest and bravest kids on the planet, 4 of those along side Nicky...
